Gulf Oasis Apartment Hotels, Barsha Heights (Tecom) - Review

First Impressions

If you’re after solid value in Tecom, Gulf Oasis Apartment Hotels is worth a look, whether you’re passing through or relocating to Dubai and need somewhere comfortable while you sort a longer-term place. We stayed a week, here’s the honest rundown.

The value is the headline. In low season you’re looking at around 1,000 dirhams (about €250) for the week, which for a spacious studio in this part of Dubai is hard to beat. Late check-in was no problem either, so no stress if you land at an odd hour.

The Room

The room is a big studio at 42 square metres and it doesn’t feel cramped. There’s a proper desk and chair, so working from the room is comfortable rather than an afterthought. The kitchen is fully stacked with a washing machine, fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave, so self-catering is easy. The one gap is there’s no oven, so it’s more reheating and quick meals than proper cooking. Three large wardrobes give you plenty of room to unpack, which matters if you’re staying a while. You also get a sofa and chair facing a decent-sized TV, a big comfortable bed with a bedsit beside it, and a large bathroom with a big mirror. The shower’s an older style but does the job.

Facilities And Service

Downstairs there’s a mid-size pool and jacuzzi on the first floor, and a hotel gym with dumbbells and weight plates. No Olympic bars, but fine for a basic workout. Cleaning is daily, and the staff and security are genuinely friendly, which was one of the things that stood out most. There are entrances on both sides of the street, and out the back there are three Rolls Royces parked up, which is a nice touch.

Room For Improvement

There’s no on-site restaurant for breakfast, so you’ll need to head out or sort yourself in the morning. Plenty of options nearby in Tecom, but an in-house spot would round it off.
